D-Hole 14 jazz

This is a hybrid or "mutant" (I like to describe it that way!) between the original D-Hole and the Oval Hole model, which I think was first conceived by Jacques Favino in the late 50s or early 60s. The bracing and the way I prepare the soundboard is similar to the Oval Hole but I cut a D-shaped hole instead, which has a great effect on the sound, and I fit the guitar with an extended fingerboard (full 2 octave range on the E and B string, with the scale length remaining at 670 mm). With the Muller or Shallers tuners, and again with a choice of two types of tailpiece, the result is a deeper sounding guitar with a fuller tone and a very unusual look, s’il vous plait! I like this model a lot, it sounds so unique.

"I think Godefroy is one of the best luthiers making Selmer type guitars today in what is becoming quite a crowded field. My guitar is, quite simply, one of the best guitars I have ever played. Every time I pick it up I'm blown away by the sound and playability of the instrument - it's an absolute joy to play. I feel very fortunate to own it!"
